The following months were a blur and a bit surreal. Everything was shaky. Being at work was tough. Not being there was tougher. Drinking seemed like a good idea. For a minute. There was numbness and no real sense of how to get to the other side of the heartbreak.
Until one day the air felt different. And so did he. He realized the problem wasn’t the breakup. The problem was that he had lost himself. In the midst of the relationship, he had gotten so far from who he really was. He had been so willing to change to make the relationship work. He was willing to pay any price for love. At the time, all those changes felt like like compromising, like being responsible. But it all stemmed from a fundamental belief that he wasn’t enough. That he was broken.
And that just isn't true. It is never true. Now he could see that. In the wake of this breakup he discovered the bigger truth of who he really is- Enough. Never broken. Completely deserving. Already loveable. This breakup showed him that. Once he got that- he got it forever.
Do not question your fundamental enoughness. When you know you are enough, all of your relationships change in amazing ways. - Fabeku Fatunmise
